The hadoti circuit is one of famous tourist itineraries in Rajasthan, as it takes the travelers to places which are mostly less explored. This circuit are located towards the South East of Rajasthan. The places on track with significant historical importance dates back several centuries.

On this circuit, you get to travel back in time and witness prehistoric cave paintings and look for traces of an early civilization.

As you drive along the Chambal, you can visit a vast reservoir of remnats from the past from sculpted temples in Hadoti to the Garh Palace in Bundi, and the Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary you have a lot do more.

BUNDI

Bundi, the first major destination in Hadoti to be reached from Jaipur, has a strong association with Rudyard Kipling, who drew inspiration from the beautiful town and its surroundings.

Set in a narrow encircling gorge, the palaces and fortress of Bundi seem to come straight out of a fairy tale. Very few places in the country can match this small town’s picturesque location.

The Bundi Palace presents a fine example of Rajput architecture with its carved brackets, pillars and balconies. While you’re at the palace don’t miss the famous Chitra Shala with its exquisite paintings of the Bundi School that adorn the walls here. You can also visit the Phool Sagar Palace, Sukh Mahal, Shikar Burj and Sar Bagh.

The step wells of Bundi are works of art and a very beautiful example can be found in the center of the town – the Raniji ki Baodi. This stepwell is profusely decorated with carved pillars and ornate archways and makes you wonder why a simple function of drawing water from the well needed so much embellishment.

KOTA

While in Kota, there is the Jag Mandir, the brajraj Bhawan Palace and the Umaid Bhawan Palace that you need to spend some time in. And before you leave don’t forget to pack some Kota doria that is famous for. The fabric makes excellent summer wear.

Moving further into the Hadoti region the towns get less crowded and less touristy. The temples and the forts are all there for you to explore, as you drive into the interior you chance upon a ruined temple here and an abandoned fortress there.

Some areas worth exploring are the Badoli Temples that date back to the 9th century, the 11th century Ramgarh Bhand deora temple, Sitabari, an ideal picnic spot with temples and seven tanks and the fort and mosque of Shahbad. The countryside has wooded hills and valleys that provide shelter to large variety of wildlife.

The Darrah Wildlife Sanctuary, once used as the royal hunting ground, today protects panther, spotted deer, wild boar and bear.

JHALAWAR

Jhalawar is a typical small Hadoti town where the focal point is the fort itself. Located in the middle of the town, most of it now houses disctrict offices but try and get some body to show you the Zenana Khas portion of the fort as it has some really exquisite paintings on the walls.

When you decide to move out of Jhalawar, there are other places of interest like the wooden cottage called Rain Basera, the 7th century temples of Chandrabhaga, sun temple at Jhalarapatan and the magnificent 8th century Gagron fort.

Duration of Hadoti Tour

Hadoti Tour is approximately 4 Nights / 5 Days tour. The places covered are Bundi, Kota and Jhalawar .

The most famous travel circuit among travelers coming to India is the Golden Triangle tour. This famous circuit covers three major travel destinations of northern India constituting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.

At Delhi there are lot of old and new buildings to see; In Jaipur you can visit the forts and palaces and at Agra you can explore the unrestrained beauty of wonderful Taj.

The charismatic influence of Taj on the beholders leaves one enthralled and awed. The symbol of love, Taj Mahal, is perhaps the most cherished tourist attraction in the Golden triangle tour.

Delhi

The tour starts with a visit to the famous heritage sites of Delhi. Delhi being an ancient town of India, has witnessed several kingdoms. It has glorious past and rich culture and tradition perfectly blending with modernity. The city (Old Delhi & New Delhi) has several catchy attractions to offer its visitors. Visitors are amazed at local people and magnificent historic places and monuments.

Driving through Rajpath is simply a delightful experience. Rajpath, as straight as an arrow, is a tree lined street which runs from the President House to the India Gate – All India War Memorial. On 26thJanuary (Republic Day) every year, Rajpath is made for processions and parades. The scene is very marvelous and worth seeing.

Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Old Fort, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid, Birla Temple,Akshardham Temple, Lotus Temple, etc are worth visiting monument attractions of Delhi city tours to India.

Not only historic & modern monuments, the city of Delhi is also known for some of gorgeous gardens like Mughal Garden, Lodhi Gardens, India Gate Lawns, Children’s Park, Talkatora Garden, Kalindii Kunj Park, Shalimar Garden, National Zoological Park, Rose Garden, Nehru Park, Buddha Jayanti Park, etc are famous picnic spots and parks in Delhi.

Agra

The second city on the circuit is Agra, which is just 200 km away from Delhi and 235 km from Jaipur. Prior to Delhi, Agra in Uttar Pradesh was the main seat of Mughal Empire. Though, it first finds its mention in the epic of Mahabharata as Agrabana, Agra is better known for Mughal-era buildings, with Taj Mahal as its highlight.

Other than Taj, there are two more UNESCO World Heritage sites at Agra – Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort. Agra is a good place to buy marble handicrafts, such as Taj miniatures and stonework artistic tabletops.

Jaipur

The final destination of Golden Triangle Travel circuit is Jaipur – the Pink City of India. Jaipur is the capital city of India. Jaipur is one of the most frequently visited cities in the country after Agra. It is popularly described as the Pink City of India.

There is Amber Fort & Palace situated in the outskirt of Jaipur city. The Fort & Palace Complex is located atop a hill overlooking wonderful views of Jaipur City. Tourists love to enjoy elephant ride to access the magnificent Amber Fort & Palace.

Trip to the Sam sand dunes was the most fascinating part of our 15 days long Rajasthan trip, sort of ‘a dream comes true’.

Sam Sand Dues of Jaisalmer

And to get a feel of the desert sand in my hands and run my fingers over the sand had been a long cherished desire of mine. When we got there, it was miles of sand and sand dunes all around.

I had always wondered: how can the desert sand look golden. And I saw there, I couldn’t believe it, the sand did look golden, reflecting the rays of the setting sun. The patterns on the sand, the undulating sand mounds, and the glittering fine grains of sand all looked magical yet real. The sand dunes, their formation are one of nature’s most interesting and beautiful phenomena.

The desert is a harsh place to sustain life and thus most of the fauna and flora live on the edge.

It is been said that Thar Desert of Rajasthan is the seventh largest desert in the world, covering Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Barmer cities of Rajasthan.

There is a Disneyland atmosphere with concession tents, camel rides, postcards, and a snake charmer… the whole bit! They have trampled all over the dunes.

The locals believe everyone wants to be in the desert to see the sunrise or the sunset so we had no option but to sit there on the dunes and wait for the couples to enjoy their ‘romantic’ sunset in sam sand dunes

After sun down, it started getting a little cold and we headed of to some sort of resort where we were to spend our evening and have dinner.

The entertainment for the night was folk songs and folk dances in bright traditional dresses. The whole thing was too made up to enjoy and I could see that the performers themselves were bored stiff with the routine.

Hawamahal – A Wind of Palace is the most striking land mark of Jaipur located at the heart of the city. It was built by Maharaja Pratap singh in 1799, intricately carved and balconied, five storeyed pink sand stone building.

It is an amazing architectural creation. The palace is shaped like a pyramid with number of small windows and screens decorated with tiny lattice work with arched roofs. The windows are made of sand stone which are known as ‘Jharokhas‘ are constructed in such a style that it looks like a honeycomb. Specially the front view of the palace is very magnificent. From the inside of the Palace you will also have a good view of Jaipur.

The building is 50 ft high and a foot in thickness. There are over 900 niches in the structure with semi-octagonal alcoves, carved sandstone grills, finials and domes.

The amazing fact about the Hawa mahal is that the rear side of the palace is rather plain. It does not have much ornamentation with in the palace. The contrast of both the sides are surprising, while every detail of the front side is done with minute accuracy and back side is white and plain. The back side is more a mass of pillars and passages.

Why Hawa Mahal has such Tiny Windows ?

It is said that this historical palace was made for the women of the royal families. As they had to maintain strict cover and were not supposed to expose themselves to the world.

So the Hawa Mahal was built, to keep the royal ladies inside and they could watch the processions and other activities taking place at the out side with out being unseen. The small windows and screened balconies thus explain why Hawa Mahal has such tiny windows and many screened balconies.

There are many other tourist places in jaipur like Hawa Mahal, try visiting it sometime in November-December which is considered the most suitable time to visit Rajasthan.

Ranakpur consists of a fortified temple complex that was built by the Jains who served in the courts of the rulers of Udaipur. It is one of the biggest and most important cluster of Jain temples in India.

The Chaumukha temple, or Four Faced Temple, is the main temple in the complex and dates back to the 15th century. Built in marble, the temple has 29 halls supported by more than 1,400 pillars, no two of which are alike.

A special effect is the amazing play of shadow, light and colours. As the light shifts through the temple over the day the columns colour from white over bluish to gold … When the mogul emperor Akbar visited this temple he was full of admiration that he had made an inscription on one of the columns, which says, that no one ever will be allowed to destroy this jewel of architecture.

For more information on Rajasthan Pilgrimage, you can visit many sites including the Rajasthan State Tourism Department official site.
